Century-Old Mystery Solved in Search for Spanish Mine
In the Rio Grande country of Texas a centuries old mystery about a vanished herd of longhorn cattle from October 1812 is reportedly solved. Vaqueros entered a remote canyon near Goat Mountain and found bones on the cave floor, suggesting the herd perished in an October storm while being wintered near Terlingua Creek. The tale has long haunted local Spanish Mexican families, and the search inspired lore about a hidden precious mine once operated by early dons.
