More than 500 people attended a daylong Alpine organized tour from Alpine to Fort Davis and Bird Orchard. J D Jackson led the event with Mrs G W Baines coordinating transportation. A barbecue under cottonwood trees fed Fort Davis guests and Alpine Chamber members organized the beef and related festivities.

Receipts of cattle were light with prices regaining losses from last week. Fat steers steady, stockers up 10 to 15 cents, cows higher 1 to 25 cents, grass heifers 25 to 50 cents. White-face grass heifers sold at $8.50 514 pounds. Calves strong with heavies $9 to $9.50 and 250 pound cows at $8 to $11. Hog prices 10 to 15 cents higher, top $10.85 per load.

Three men traveling to Terlingua mining prospects were caught by a sudden wall of water in Sheep Creek three hundred miles south of Alpine.
