A large Alpine luncheon discussed Good Roads with Judge John Perkins as toastmaster. Speakers urged education for voters, retained the chamber of commerce committee to lead a pro road campaign, and stressed bonds as timely for normal costs and favorable borrowing. Earth Easterwood's all day ranch birthday party featured bridge and 42 at Glass Mountains with a guest list of local families and friends. The Woman's Missionary Society of the Christian church held a combined meeting at Mrs Phil Robinson's home with songs prayers scripture Tibet study and a cream and cake reception for attendees.
Oscar Roberts moved eighteen hundred head of fine steers from Marathon ranch to the lower ranch and then to the Gage rapid where grass is good. He also joined the growing Avalanche readers roster.
Beginning Sept first N Winkler dry goods store will sell for cash only in Fort Stockton Breckenridge and at the N Winkler establishments. The policy promises lower prices by discounting bills and offering cash customers H S green trading stamps as an incentive. Merchant H C Reed signs the notice.
Rev J Thomas Brown named pastor of the First Christian Church of Alpine to take over from Rev H M Bandy who will vacate the parsonage and move to El Paso with his wife. Brown arrives from Big Springs Texas as the Brewster county town bids farewell to a long serving minister and his family.
