One hundred six bachelor's degrees and 43 master's degrees will be awarded by Sul Ross State College President Bryan Wildenthal at a 4 p.m. Main Auditorium ceremony Sunday August 19. Judge Edward Clark of Austin will deliver the commencement address with Rev. Clyde Chessnut giving the invocation.

The Alpine Internationals drilled Lamesa Red Sox 18-2 on Sunday afternoon. Jones Bros of Odessa completed paving for the city lot between Holland Avenue and the Souther Pacific depot yesterday. The project cost 2260 dollars with 938 dollars furnished by the railroad. The city’s share came from previously appropriated paving funds.

Seven Flights Told for 6th Annual Invitational Golf Tourney
Alpine Country Club this weekend hosts the 6th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament limited to 112 players. Qualifying rounds Saturday August 18 with Sunday August 19 matches across seven flights including the championship over 27 holes. Prizes include irons for each flight winner and woods for runners-up plus bags for consolation winners and runners-up. Deadline to enter is 4 p.m. Saturday with a dinner Calcutta pool Saturday night and pairings at that time. Last year winner was Jerry Mobley from Monahans with Roy Peden of Kermit runner-up. Concessions Park Service Air Projects at Big Bend
National Park Service plans major construction in Big Bend National Park with about 1 million dollars for new facilities. NPC president Gamer Hanson and Park Superintendent Stanley Joseph outlined plans including a lodge, 20 motel units, a campers supply store, parking upgrades, sewer and water lines, and new employee housing. Roadwork on the Santa Elena Castelon Road is slated with bids set for September 7.

Nay Bowles 96 a pioneer resident of Alpine and Brewster County died in San Marcos Friday Aug 10. Grave side services were held Sunday at 2 p m with Rev Robert Bristol officiating. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. He was born Oct 8 1865 in Belton Bell County and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a youth. He helped run Alpine Hotel and a livery stable and served as Alpine marshal and water works head until 1945.

Annual roundup of livestock and farm products for Boys Ranch in San Angelo proceeds with donations sought from Alpine Fort Davis Fort Stockton Sanderson and area 4 foreman. roundup runs through September. A 45 member group of Boys Ranch youngsters toured Meriwether Ranch with staff and Harvey Hartgrove. A barbecue followed a 1960 1961 fundraising history noting $15 000 and $17 000 gains.

Eight Persons Are Convicted In Brewster County Case
Eight men were convicted in district court after Brewster County grand jury indicted them. Arthur Mubleinson Jr. Felix Treme and Louis Lucas Jr. received five years for robbery by assault at Hill Service Station Marathon. Others include Grady Williams three years for forgery Cruz Flores five to twelve years for daytime burglary Dennie West five years Jerry Meeks five years and Jonson five years for etc. A juvenile involved in the Marathon robbery was committed to Texas Youth Council custody. Grand jury members and bailiffs listed. NHL note states players use two sticks per game.
