Proposed soil dam near Presidio forms lake seven miles long
In Bend Sentinely Presidio August 5 Bill with Zackie Miles and Chas Whitlam Leverett have studied engineering factors for a proposed soil conservation dam on the Cibolo creek in Terrell County. The dam would reach about 89 feet high, creating a lake 6 to 7 miles long and up to 3 miles wide, irrigate roughly 3000 acres, and flood control would protect Presidio homes and businesses. The project includes backwater near Shafter and potential tourist access. Meanwhile oil and gas leasing activity continues with several leases pending and spudding planned on the lam Bell ranch within ten days by D K Drilling of Tulsa. A test well in survey 68 block D1 is reported favorable by geologists.

Kitchen Borne at Death
The Chinese belief holds that the spirit after death is cared for in the next world. A man builds a kitchen with dummy cooks and food, and is burned at his death. Upon reincarnation, it is all ready for his arrival in the hereafter.
