Test Marathon Oil shows limited value of new crude at Alpine plant
A practical test of Marathon oil from the Chambers well at Marathon was run at Alpine Light & Ice Co. plant. Six barrels were used to run the engine, keeping it going but creating too much carbon. The well is in Presidio county near a depth of about 150 feet. Local residents and visitors, including Judge Van Sickle and J. R. Ford, noted the test.

Commissioners Court will meet next week as Alpine prepares for local shifts. Alpine ball team plays Marfa this afternoon. F G Payne, ex night clerk at Holland hotel, left for Del Rio. Dr Watkins and Mrs Watkins plan Amarillo trip for a month or more. Will Safford of Holland hotel leaves for El Paso. Eph Williams and wife plan Marfa move and Williams will open a Marfa garage and vulcanizing shop. Dr Berkeley and committee thank community for sidewalk campaign adding two miles of cement sidewalks in Alpine.
