Banks led the Longview Junior High Band for two years and previously directed bands at Luling Jeffer son Carlisle Hull-Dassetta Franklin and Luling with First Division and sweepstakes honors. The Luling band earned sweepstakes at 1959 Buccaneer Day in Corpus Christi. Mr and Mrs Banks plan to move August 15 and attend the local Methodist Church. A full faculty list will be released later.

July rainfall measured 3.65 inches over ten days with general distribution and some low spots. The 24 hour peak was 1.45 inches on the 16th. other readings ranged from 0.4 inches on the 10th to 0.34 inches on the 26th. The year total reached 6.17 inches versus 8.54 inches in 1961, and the July average through 1961 was 2.31 inches.

The City Council defeated Dr. W. E. Lockhart s proposal to buy a Dempster Dumpmaster for 524 986 46 at the regular meeting Tuesday by 3 2. The plan would have financed the purchase with a bank loan and set daily residential and commercial rates to cover costs.
