Trustees Warn of School Tax Needs and Shortage
A letter from Jackson, H. Derrick, and FR. McGavony outlines school expenses for the coming year, calculating monthly costs at 900.54 for teachers plus 360 for janitor and other items, totaling a deficit of 1700 to 1800. The writers urge the district to authorize maintenance taxes not exceeding 50 cents per $100 valuation to preserve the school system and address outstanding debts. They note current resources and potential collection costs, and call for elections to approve the levy.
