Circle 1 of the Baptist W M S met with Mrs Lala Murphy for social and quilting duties with sixteen members present. Circle 2 met at Miss Marjorie Casner’s home. a devotional and lemon lesson were given. several guests attended and a birthday party honored Virginia Holland at the Holland hotel with theatre outing.

Davis Mountain Federation Holds 28th Semi Annual Meet Near Marathon
Marathon Study club hosted the 28th semi annual meeting of the Davis Mountain Federation of Women's clubs at Mrs L F Buttril's ranch south of Marathon. Sixty five members and guests registered. Reports covered district events, traffic safety talk, a Big Bend park lecture, and a vote approving the park. A chicken dinner followed, with a noon program canceled for lawn socializing. The Nov meeting will be in Marfa and students earned honor roll recognition.

New Hudson Bay Battery Under Hood Mystery in Marfa
In Marfa on Sunday afternoon a notable event involving the Hudson Bay battery was observed near the hood area. The bride, a Sul Ross College junior and former Sweetheart, is linked to Alpine through her aunt Mrs. Hill. The groom, a Pecos businessman, works for the National Credit Association and is a former student.
