Violinist Rubinoff, famed for his 1731 Stradivarius, visits Alpine High School Auditorium Friday at 8 p.m. under Alpine Lions Club auspices. Admission is 2 dollars for adults and 1 for students, with proceeds to the Eyesight Fund.
The Tri-County Community Concert Association begins its annual membership drive at 7:30 p.m. April 25 in Fort Davis with a kickoff dinner. The drive runs through April 30. Mrs. Blanche Doster, district field representative, will meet officers and directors to plan the campaign and upcoming season. The season features The Duo Romeros, Celia and Pepe Romero. Officers for two years include Dr. W. E. Lockhart as president and Ellen Boyd as secretary, with various chairs for Fort Davis and Marfa.
Annual splash day for students at Sul Ross State College takes place on Wednesday April 27 at Balmorhea State Park. Classes are dismissed at noon and students will collect sack lunches for dinner during lunch hour at the school cafeteria.
Project OK by Dr M A Browninsistant commissioner for Vocational Education of the Texas Education Agency confirms Alpine Public Schools Adult Basic Education program approval. It serves 133 students with 12 teachers, offering developmental reading English math and social sciences. Courses run April 25 to June 20 and July 1 with two evenings weekly for 2.5 hours.
