The commissioners court met in regular monthly session with Judge Turney and Commissioners McGaughy Fletcher and Adams present. Resignation of D D York due to ill health was read and accepted. Clyde Buttrill and W M Sanford were considered for the unexpired term. Buttrill elected county treasurer. Judge Van Sickle protested salaries to the county attorney and Marathon deputy sheriff. County Attorney Brooke defended legality. It was decided to discontinue the county officer’s salary May 1st while other salaries stay fixed. Various road, jail, and printing contracts listed.
Marathon and Sanderson played a season opener with Sanderson winning 17 to 6. Several visitors arrived in Marathon including Foote and Miller contractors for a rubber factory at Boquillas. A large Easter program at the Methodist church entertained many, and local social events featured Mrs Wall Parker and W W Circle.

The Methodist Conference opened last night at the Methodist church with an unusually large number of delegates present. New attendees include Rev. J. H. Fitzgerald Dr. W. Burney M. M. Shivel of El Paso Miss Blanche Avant of Marfa and Mrs. Geo Spear of Ft Stockton. The Missionary Society program is set for Friday at 3 pm and a reception for visiting women delegates will be held Saturday 4 to 6 pm at the Hancock home. A children service is planned Sunday at 4 pm and young people at 5 pm with E D Lewis and others to speak. Business sessions run 9 am to 1 pm and 3 to 5 pm daily. An auto ride for visiting delegates Saturday afternoon is featured and a memorial to establish a tubercular sanatorium in this region will be proposed. Daily preaching at 1 am and 8 pm, with Sunday services at morning and evening in the Christian and Methodist churches.
