Burglary at Saragosa Bank Cripples Building
Burglars dynamited Toyah Valley State Bank at Saragosa thirty five miles north of Alpine this morning. Approximately 1200 dollars in cash was taken. The blast drove the safe door into the street wrecking most of the building. Three men in a light buggy fled the scene. Deputies and sheriffs pursued the trail toward Fort Davis but no clues identified the robbers. Public notice reports sale of the Pecos Valley Southern railroad with ownership passing to Reeves county interests. The deal values the line and assets at a nominal cash price with additional considerations and strong Reeves county ties among vendees, including Mountcastle and Mayer affiliates.
