Balmorhea Station Transfer Urged to Sul Ross College
State Senator Hardeman urged Gen Earl Rudder to study transferring the Balmorhea experiment station to Sul Ross State College amid plans to close the Texas A&M station. A. A. Melton said Balmorhea will close next fall as part of consolidating small stations. The move aims to reuse facilities and support cattle progeny testing. Population notes show Brewster County up about 3 percent since 1960 with an estimated 6629 residents.
