Palmer Gains Support as Streeter Dropped In Illinois Senate Race
Illinois farmers leaders Cockrell and Moore renounce Streeter and declare for Gen. John M. Palmer. They publish a public address urging independent policy, praise Palmer’s stance on free coinage and regulation, and note Palmer’s alignment with their reform aims while acknowledging limits. The shift follows a long bargaining session with Republicans and a final pledge to back Palmer on the first ballot.
