On June 15 the Chicago Board of Trade saw a dramatic collapse by the wheat clique, wiping out several firms including Rosenfeld Co and Hamill & Brine, with prices plunging from 92 cents to as low as 34 cents in minutes. The panic spread to Cincinnati and Milwaukee as nine to sixteen firms failed, liabilities totaling several million dollars, while lawsuits between Rosenfeld and Wiltshire & Co. began to surface.

Willis Dickinson, five, vanished from Commonwealth Wisconsin on November 1 1631. Parents hunted across thousands of miles with false leads and were told he was dead. A brush-heap discovery in Minwavier reveals a letter signed James Paina claiming to have killed the child and naming a burial corner in the city. A search for remains will be conducted at that site now built over.
The Inter-State Commerce Commission ruled on the Louisville & Nashville petition, concluding it need not predefine all exceptions. Carriers may set tariffs based on substantial similarity of circumstances, bearing risk but subject to penalties if law is violated. The decision outlines when shorter versus longer hauls may be charged differently under various competition and circumstance conditions.
Inspector Bonfield calls meeting of Chicago gamblers at Battery Darmory to enforce Mayor Koehler and Union of Police orders closing all gambling rooms. Houses must close and furniture removed within five days or be seized and destroyed, with violators facing further action. Gamblers react with alarm but largely vow to comply and vacate within days.
A dispatch from Villa Maria Argentina reports a suppressed revolution in Tucuman with 400 dead and the provincial governor and ministers imprisoned. Population of the province cited as 103,000.
