A Hero Honored at Logan Memorial Parade

Chicago July 23 A grand tribute to John A Logan featured a monument dedication in Lakefront Park with Gov Tanner and Secretary of War Alger in attendance. A 20,000 strong parade along Michigan Avenue showcased veterans, survivors of the Thirty First Illinois, and naval units while salutes and fireworks marked the ceremony.

McKinley Urges Currency Reform and Revenue Plan

Explosion Kills Seven at Winchester Armory Cartridges

A July 22 explosion in the Winchester Repeating Arms cartridge department in New Haven Connecticut killed four women and three men. About twenty others were injured. The deceased are William F. Baumer Mrs Mary Baumeister Mrs Josiah Brennan Miss Ida Brown William Hill Miss Tracy Conroy and Edward Barderos. Also notes a horse race at Washington Park and Col Charles F Crocker's will opening in San Francisco allocating an estate of seven to ten million to his three children.
