Beware of Certain Want Ads From the Waukon Standard
A reader recalls a Chicago want ad promising agents with salary and no experience. John W. Ward of Postville Iowa fell for it, invested $1000 in stock to sell to Des Moines society, earned only $60 first month, then lost salary claims and won a court judgment. Similar swindle victimized another Des Moines man for $4000. Also note a lost pocket book in Union Township and an ad from A. D. Clarke & Co offering 5 percent loan with annual interest.
