Lafay ette Young Named Senator to Succeed Dolliver
Des Moines reports that Lafay ette Young, owner and editor of the Des Moines Capital, is named United States senator for Iowa to succeed Dolliver. Governor Carron announced the appointment on a Saturday. Young has long operated the Capital since buying it and previously edited several papers. He served as state senator in Casa and other counties for twelve years.
