Iowa City State University hospital reports two near death pneumonia cases cured by Dr. L W Dean using a small electric light to locate foreign objects in the lungs. A Davenport boy had a wad of tinfoil removed from his lung, while Clarence Fairchild’s left lung yielded a brass penholder. Both boys survived.

Waterloo resident and former Iowa House speaker A. F. Feely died after a brief illness at forty-one. A Black Hawk County lawyer, he was born in the county, served in the Spanish American War, studied law while teaching in Waterloo, graduated from the State University College of Law in 1889, and was admitted in 1901. Feely served in the Thirty-second and Thirty-third General Assemblies and sought attorney general. he was active in Knights of Pythias lodges.
