Des Moines March 21. The house appropriations committee voted to recommend passage of the bill appropriating 200000 to complete the state historical building. The senate committee is inclined to favor the measure. The west wing, erected two years ago at about 50000, was planned with the main structure and two wings in mind. The 200000 estimate to finish is regarded as modest. Des Moines March 19. To boost Iowa corn, Prof. P G Holden seeks high grade seed in Illinois for farmers and seed supply to improve crop quality. Iowa Grain Dealers Association Secretary Wells says it is the only way to prevent a poor crop this year. Cherokee March 21. Train 101 of the Illinois Central railroad struck 11 year old Frank Perry's daughter near the depot. A friend and the child's sister narrowly escaped passing, but the engine and two cars severed the head from the body.
