Dead bass blanketed shallow Mississippi near McGregor

In shallow backwaters near McGregor ice formed so deep fish suffocated beneath it. Two McGregor fishermen sawing near Waukon found two thousand pounds of dead bass in a haul of six thousand pounds. Similar die offs reported along the river from Marietta to Minnesota. Local officials describe widespread losses and rising concerns for fishing in the region.

Postoffice Robber Caught in Des Moines Gang Case
