Anti-Pass Amendment Tops House Debate In 1907 Vote
Washington June 24 The House approved by 216 to 4 a conference report on the rate bill amid dispute over the anti pass amendment. Democrats and allies protested the measure while limiting its scope to federal state and local officials. The rule set penalties for violations and outlined penalties for officials who use free tickets. The debate touched on the sleeping car provision and the broader commerce act context. The conference report now moves to the Senate for Monday consideration.
