Death of Mrs. Isaac Deems in LaVerne area

Mrs. Rebecca Ross Deems died Tuesday after partial paralysis lasting about two and a half years. Born May 16, 1821 in Muskingum County Ohio, she married Isaac Deems in 1849 and lived in Illinois, then Iowa near TuVerne. She was mother to thirteen children, grandmother to I. M. Mowell, and transferred church membership among M E and Baptist churches before ending with M E. Funeral was held with Rev. Artimun officiating. about seventy five relatives and friends attended.

Mr Wa Eblers sustained a serious injury last Saturday evening when he was viewing the terrace construction of his new home. While he looked up, a carpenter swept debris from the upper story, striking him. He is described as wounded by the accident.

Eye injury from pine board strike causes unconsciousness

A man was struck in the eye by a small pine board fragment, fell unconscious and convulsed, requiring morphine to calm him. He suffered a severe headache through the weekend, with partial sight returning by Monday. He then traveled to Mason City for an eye specialist consultation.

Des Moines Woman Injured in Car Mishap

Mrs Irrank A Ross of Capital Ave Des Moines sister of Mrs Ingaisbe Riverdale township. She was returning from Chautauqua Park when an open car started suddenly at Thirteenth and Grande Ave throwing her onto brick pavement injuring back and head. Dr Ryan found no bone fractures but bruises. She was delirious several hours, now resting easier and hopes for no permanent injury.

Episcopal visitation by Iowa bishop set at St. Thomas

A Fort Dodge report says Roy Petersmier, a boy near Fonda, was accidentally killed when he fell onto a pitchfork leaning on a haystack. Tines pierced his side and armpit. he pulled free and crawled away before dying as his father arrived.
