Iowa Engineers Called Out for National Guard Service
Iowa City company A engineers with 125 enlisted men and three officers has been called into service. Adjutant General Logan, after a war department telegram, coordinated duties with Captain C. L. Strike of Des Moines and lieutenants Gould and Porter of Iowa City. The unit is ready for duty. The University of Iowa student band begins a Chautauqua tour across Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota under Mutual Chautauqua Company of Chicago, with 20 selected musicians from the university marching band returning to Iowa in July and August.
