The High Rollers Club and the Gold Brick Mystery
In Chicago a clandestine circle called the High Rollers gathers at Col. Powley's bachelor home where Doc Floyd and Jack Cleland chase lies and luck. Floyd schemes a gold brick con, lifts fortunes, and is caught by a wary hotel keeper and sheriff. Floyd defeats the trap, pays with a $5000 check, and reveals the scam to the club, tying together crime, gambling, and civic bravado in a turning night of intrigue.
