County Merchants Boost War Savings Drive In County
Beginning Saturday June 22 every store in the county becomes a War Savings and Thrift stamps agency. Kossuth County aims to raise 25000 to meet state quotas with Algona and Wesley leaders urging the public to buy stamps early and invest change returned during the week into War Savings. Merchants will decorate windows and run stamp booths to ease purchase and encourage patriotism.

Will Lehman aged twenty six or twenty seven, son of Mr and Mrs Fred Lehman near Whittemore, died Wednesday night after diving in an eight foot deep dredge backed ditch. Friends rescued too late as cramps or drowning ended his life. Survived by parents four sisters and many relatives. Funeral held Saturday at German Lutheran church.

H M Vinson and Margaret Laidley, both of Algona, were married Saturday evening at 5:30 in the bride’s home of Mrs Agnes Laidley. Rev W J Todd officiated in front of relatives and a few guests.
