A Des Moines raid led to 35 gamblers paying fines totaling 4.10. Frank Meyer, a C M and St P railway worker, was killed near Washington when a steam shovel toppled while moving to a new site. The accident crushed him, with fatal injuries. The report also notes other local incidents including a train wreck near Avoca, a Cedar Falls fatality, and various legal actions across Iowa.
