Edward Gillette known as the Cattle King fled Woodbine Kansas in 1898 after mortgaging cattle for others. He paid Denver creditors Mrs. Alvine C. Dake and Edgar A. Keeler $150000. In Mexico he amassed about 7 million from mines at Parral Chi huahua. He settled with Kansas City creditors, then traveled to Denver with wife and son Waldo and plans to live in New York or Denver. He retains mining interests.
