Will Raise Taxes Over Two Million Dollars in Budgets
Des Moines reports that appropriations requested by state departments, the board of education and state board of control for the next two years could push state taxes up more than two mills. Budgets total over $2,000,000 annually, or about $4,000,000 above current biennial spending, with education and control boards contributing most of the rise. The governor will include these figures in the message to the incoming assembly, guiding the two year appropriations.
