Bailey writes to the Manson Democrat answering the open question with a humorous list of purchases and antics from shaving to a trotting horse, a red buggy, hats, cigars, and a bold Telegram to the Interstate Commerce Commission, then political schemes in Fort Dodge, local gifts to widows, a faster car, a threshing machine, a chaffeur, a drug store, a bank, and more, ending with a playful note for heirs. The piece blends satire with a mock plan of spending a million dollars.
