Swindlers ensnare farmers near Sherburn in land deal
A pair of smooth strangers posed as agents from Fort Dodge to lure Henry Hartjen and nearby farmer Mr Hahn into a land sale near Clay County. Hartjen paid 50 and signed a note for 350 for a 200 acre parcel, plus an 400 commission claim. The buyers left with the note and Hartjen fears criminal action. Hahn echoed a similar scheme, signing for 800. Sentinel notes this as a repeat swindle warning.
