Libel suit and local saloon tensions in Estherville
The Estherville Republican faces a $10,000 libel suit from Abrams, a temperance lecturer who stirred trouble in Britt and other towns. The paper claimed Abrams bought liquor in Wallingford under an assumed name, a claim later found mistaken by local druggist Henry Amundson. The piece notes ongoing saloon disputes in Emmet County and mentions related defamation allegations by I. H. Sherman against M. W. Atwood. Also includes local ads for shoes, farming services, corn shelling, and Boschee's German Syrup.
