Prominent Burt Man Hugh McDonald Dies After Fall From Train
Hugh McDonald of Burt died after stepping from a moving train near the depot as darkness fell. Born in Butler County Pennsylvania in 1856, he moved to Iowa in 1867 and settled in Portland Township, later relocating to Burt to run a livery business. He is survived by wife Mary A. Godden and four children, with services conducted by the Odd Fellows.
