Sterling.ND Nov.28 Lost on the prairie for three days and nights near Sterling, a crippled ranchman Jo seph Allen survived a ferocious North Dakota blizzard the storm that tested his endurance. He wandered from the cutter, lost in blowing snow, found shelter only near an old sod cabin, then sat exposed for three days trying to reach the nearby ranch house. He cut harness, wrapped in a blanket, and resisted sleep to stay alive until neighbors found him. He was carried in, doctors warned of possible amputation, but he recovered enough to walk again and work on his ranch despite lasting crippling injuries. Eight nearby deaths and vast livestock losses marked the blizzard’s toll.
