COW EXHIBIT AT STATE FAIR
A state fair feature was the cow test exhibit run by the Iowa State Dairy association and dairy officials from the Iowa College of Agriculture. The top cow Lucy Queen Alcartra produced 8,041 pounds of milk yielding 554 pounds butterfat, with $72.85 feed and $120.27 profit. other cows in the display included a 3,101 pound yield with slight loss, a Jersey profit of $7.84, and Pond Lily II with $6.87 profit, all from Kossuth county.

Fatal Fire at Charles City explodes gasoline tank
A Standard Oil gasoline tank explosion in Charles City fatally burned three bystanders and caused minor injuries to others about four blocks away as a spark from a nearby engine ignited spilled oil. Property damage to the oil arene facility reached about 30,000.

Fatal Auto Wreck Near Oskaloosa Claims Two Lives
