The Britt Tribune rejects George Boyle and his pass for promoting the Kossuth County fair. The piece mocks Boyle as an ineffective campaign manager and deteriorated candidate, noting the fair dates September 10 to 13 and stating the paper will not print sponsorship or details for Algona events.
Mr Wilrers of Plum Creek township tells the Courier he suspects he is the man under suspicion after a threshing machine incident last week. He says Malone did not give him the hammer but passed it to Malone's boy. He describes dropping the hammer in Mr Watson's yard and leaving before the machine ran again. He claims his loads were full on the last trip while the following teams were not. He notes he cannot explain how the hammer ended up in the machine. The Courier prints his version. Otto Neuman advertises school supplies south of the courthouse.
About fifty landowners met in the court room to discuss the Mud Creek ditch project. Voters split 18 for removing all tile and 16 for keeping tile with the rest of the plan. A later motion to readjust tile district benefits passed 27 to 7. Adjourned after a racing program and local sports reports.

Susan Zeller, wife of Edward Nig of Garfield township, died after a stomach cancer diagnosed in June. Born in DuPage county Indiana, she was about 42. She leaves four children aged five to nineteen. Funeral was held at St. Joe yesterday as Courier offers sympathy to the family.
