Dowd Woman Injured in Street Car Brake Failure
Mrs H M Dowd and her daughter were thrown thirty feet on brick pavement when air brakes failed on a Fort Dodge street car on Aug 22. Mrs Dowd suffered a fractured skull and grave injuries, feared fatal. The incident occurred on a steep hill near a sharp curve as passengers stood on gear steps.

Two Boys Killed by Train Near Council Bluffs
In Council Bluffs Aug 22 the bodies of Hoy and William Golden aged 10 and 12 were found lying across the Chicago and Northwestern tracks one and a half miles north of the city. They were mangled by passing trains and several cars had passed over them. The brothers formerly lived in Des Moines and their mother Mrs W Golden recently moved from South Omaha.
