Des Moines Aug 13 Private Hurd of Dubuque in Company A Fifty third regiment I N G fired at an 18 inch target from 200 to 600 yards and put 181 bullets in the bulls eye out of 200 shots equaling the world record for long range shooting set recently by a sergeant at Fort Crook. A north wind and bright sun aided the conditions all day and Hurd’s score surpassed all others and stood far ahead of the field.
