Iowa county agents numbered 29 including one home demonstration agent, reached 230,000 people through diverse programs from July 1916 to July 1917. The Rev. M Uybulsil pastor of St Casimir Lithuanian Catholic church resigned and will leave Sioux City after threats to his life for urging parishioners to enlist. Secret meetings in the packing house district preceded the threats and federal authorities will pursue arrest of alleged plotters, names withheld. Half Million Fire Loss Engulfs Brown Camp Hardware
A spectacular blaze in Des Moines destroyed the Brown Camp Hardware building and stock, with total losses around 450000.
