Railroads Up Land Down Value Shifts in Iowa Assessments
Des Moines July 28 The state executive council completed railroad property assessment and equalized land values among counties. Railroad assessments rose by 2,637,400 while farm lands dropped 56,052,960 since 1903. Interurban and other corporate properties were adjusted, telephone lines expanded, and a state levy of 3.2 mills set to raise 2,000,000 next year. Total county reductions reached 52,415,364 this year, with an overall decrease since 1903 of over 86,000,000.
