Lightning strikes schoolhouse. teacher and pupils burned
A severe storm in Fonda on Thursday afternoon brought a lightning strike to a Deahl district school two miles north of town. The chimney and roof were demolished, bricks filled the teacher Miss Anna Hornar's chair, and many pupils suffered burns but all survived. The building shifted three inches from its foundation and most windows broke. The room is a total wreck and will be rebuilt.

A farmer named Juling Al dredge, living south of Manchester, died yesterday noon from a stomach kick by a horse. He was a young, well liked man leaving a family.

Rock Island Train Wreck Kills Fireman at Laddsdale
Rock Island train No 3 derailed near Laddsdale Station at 1130 yesterday. Fireman Bunt of Trenton Missouri died instantly when buried beneath the locomotive. Engineer Cheshire, also from Trenton, was thrown forty feet and survived with serious injuries. A mail clerk was slightly injured and another passenger was shaken but unhurt as passengers remained on board.

Gus Peterson of Minneapolis and P Tjillman of Madison were crushed by a freight car as a Burlington train passed. John Wahey witnessed the tragedy of two stone masons employed by Milwaukee who were walking to collect their pay. Peterson died instantly. Hjiliman died an hour later after severe injuries.

Water Tank Collapse Leaves Ogden Without Water
A 20,000 gallon Ogden city water tank collapsed from about 100 feet yesterday afternoon. The tank’s fall partially demolished the electric light plant beneath it. Engineer Charles Morgan survived a brush with death when a tank fragment grazed the back of his head. Damage is estimated at 6,000 to 8,000 dollars.

Mt Ayr April 22 William King was found not guilty of the murder of Samuel Egly killed at a school board meeting September 26. The jury had been out all night and reported at 8 o clock. Self defense was the theory for the verdict.
