Spanish War Hero Dead Diegnan Dies in Colorado Sanatorium
Stuart Osborn W. Diegnan, born in Stuart in 1877, died recently in a tuberculosis sanitarium at Canon City Colorado. He ran away to sea at 14, joined the Navy, served in the Spanish American War, and was with Hobson on the Merrimac at Santiago, an act that earned the crew hero status.

Married Sixty-Six Year. Forest City Couple Mark Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Thompson of Forest City recently celebrated their sixty sixth wedding anniversary. He is the founder of a local community center and has helped build this part of the state. He is 75 and Mrs. Thompson is 76. Sixty years ago the state had only one railroad from Iowa City to Davenport and land then cost about 1.28 per acre compared with today's 200 per acre.
