A gala opening of Algona’s new high school drew hundreds who toured the building. Speakers including Harvey Ingham praised modern facilities, sanitary conditions, and capable teachers. Visitors noted the manual training, domestic science, and gym departments, with demonstrations of student craftsmanship and a modern air ventilation system.
The Algona audience filled the room for a school program honoring the district's past and future. Harvey Ingham led a history rich in local education, praising Puritan roots and Horace Mann while lauding teachers, the board, and students. Speakers noted debt levels, bonds, and community effort, with musical interludes from the Harp Orchestra.
W E Kyler has sold his interests in LuVerne State Bank to J W Sullivan E J Murtagh C D Murtagh E J Gilmore and B B McMahon. F A Niver becomes cashier with Wall as assistant. From Cresco Iowa comes word that A J Tiss has been chosen superintendent for next year making him the youngest city superintendent in the state. A J Tiss graduated Corwith High School at seventeen then pursued further study at Upper Iowa University and Drake University. He served as Cresco High School principal since 1910 and now receives a promotion.
