A massive blaze devastated Aberdeen Washington on October 19 killing four people and destroying ten business blocks and residences. Fire spread from the Mack block destroying Grosvent and Pacific hotels and the new hospital, as dynamite was used to halt the flames. Insurance coverage is limited with half the loss insured. Fort Leavenworth Kansas October 1. A group of mutineers from the Fort Leavenworth prison riot were found guilty of murder in federal court this morning. They were sentenced to life in the penitentiary with no possibility of parole. Guard Waldrupe was killed during the November 1901 incident.
