Whistle and Hoe Class Eleven Graduates With Orations
The Class of Eleven high school seniors graduated Thursday night at the opera house. A large crowd witnessed nineteen orations each five minutes long. Speakers included Ruth Reed Raymund Achatz Agnes Clarke Nellie Gilmore and others delivering thoughtful essays on humanity economics loneliness and social issues. The program featured Wagner Tannhauser selections a violin solo by Jo Power and a bridal chorus by the glee club.

Clarke Nominated for State Senator at Local Convention
A. D. Clarke was endorsed for state senator at the party convention held Tuesday afternoon in the courthouse hall. Geo. W. Hanna led ballots for representative but failed to gain 65 votes, finally securing 66 on the last ballot amid a crowded, civil scene. Delegates from Burt, Fenton, Greenwood, Gorman, Germania, Grant, Harrison, La Verne, Lotts Creek, Prairie, Sexton, Swea, Springfield, Sherman, Whittemore, Wesley, and Ledyard supported the final choice. The convention honored Roosevelt and Cummins, urged rail rate reform, and named delegates to the state convention with power to choose their own chairmen.
