A Trip Into Kansas to Scout Land Prices and Gas County Towns
A correspondent and W. W. Jones left Algona on October 19 to investigate southeastern Kansas counties for investment. They visited Moran Allen County and La Harpe Gas City and Tola, noting rising gas activity, large payrolls, and new rail lines. They found land prices from twenty to thirty dollars an acre with well improved farms four miles from a station. They bought three farms, predicted higher prices with one good year, and contrasted Kansas markets with local farming. They also mention gas towns, cattle, coal, and freight advantages near Kansas City, along with a plug for Dr King’s New Discovery from Homer Hall of West Point Indiana.
