The child left at Marne has been sent for.
Ottumwa Iowa Aug 5 a launch carrying William W Powell and five others broke engine failure and was carried over the dam crashing on rocks. All six aboard perished Hallie Powell noted as a prominent young musician. A search party recovered bodies hours later amid heavy rains swelling the river.
Davenport, Aug. 6. Rev. Michael Flavin of Des Moines has been elevated by Pope Pius X to domestic prelate, the rank next below bishop, marking a notable church promotion in Iowa.
Adam Roehlk died at 1 20 this morning from injuries suffered in a wagon runaway at Taurens Iowa two days earlier. He was about 76 years old and highly respected. He leaves a widow and five children.

She used a club to defend herself and knocked out the umpire with a brick bat as the crowd stormed the yard. The girl and her mother had been troubled by boys damaging the yard and garden.
Webster City announces the disappearance of Rte. f. M. H. Beaumont a well known local capitalist who left his home at Wolverton Minnesota on July 22. He was last seen in Fargo North Dakota where he had gone to hire farm help. Foul play or loss of reason is feared as he worries over a large 1080 acre crop and lack of labor.
Dr George T Gress of Sac City filed a $25000 damages suit against Sac City Electric Company through attorney Carlos Do Goldsmith. He claims on September 17, 1906 he received the entire voltage of the system, was shocked, burned, and his nervous system injured, rendering him incapacitated as a dentist. He alleges negligence in the construction of electric wiring.
Fort Dodge Iowa Aug 5 A prominent clothing merchant C Cr Colligan was found dead in his rooms at 7 am after taking a single dose of laudanum in a despondent mood. The death surprised many friends and is being treated as a likely self-administered overdose.

Marshalltown IA Aug 2. A Chicago Great Western Twin City Chicago passenger train No 6 collided at 4 35 am with Des Moines Kansas City United No 1 at Little West First Street crossing. Several passengers bruised and shaken. Des Moines brake man Harry Norton injured with broken arm. Both engines demolished and baggage car damaged. Traffic delayed hours. Officials investigating responsibility at interlocking plant.
Four men building a barn roof at the Virginia Gay farm five miles west of Vinton Iowa fell twenty feet from a scaffold. Ben Smith Millard Smoke Wm Pemberton and H Bassett suffered serious injuries. Bassett broken ribs Smoke broken arm Pemberton shoulder and other bones Smith badly bruised. Smith and Bassett not expected to live.
Des Moines Iowa August 20 GI Greenwood a parker at Strawberry Point after assaulting his wife at a Bay supper was chased out of town by a crowd of angry citizens. The woman is in a serious condition.
Brussels reports the Belgian government will protest to the United States if Venezuela persists a refusal to recognize a Hague Tribunal finding on the $2,000,000 payment to Belgian creditors. The protest seeks to press the payers and raise the question with the Palais.
