In New York Aug 7 two Mason City area men William Taylor and George Taylor found to be heirs of Mrs Henry M Tayler, sharing about 1 million dollars upon her death while drawing 4000 annually. Discovery arose from a lengthy family search connected to Standard Oil founders and ties to Henry Flagler and John D Rockefeller era.

Isaac Finkelstein, crusader against public gambling, was murdered on East Walnut Street near Sixth Street in Des Moines. He died from a head blow as he walked home, skull crushed, after leading raids that shuttered eight houses. witnesses heard officers suggest silence and a figure claimed responsibility. The killing followed his push for legalized revenue from gambling and police raids that caused gamblers to close their houses.
Two masked men halted a northbound Chicago Burlington and Quincy limited near Savannah Illinois last night hijacking the Adams express car. They cut loose the car, forced the engineer to move ahead and blew the car, as torpedoes on the track exploded. A posse and armed citizens rushed to the scene, but the amount of loot is undetermined with reports varying between about twenty thousand dollars and other sums.
