Tragedy at Paine Farm as German Man Hangs Himself
A 40-year-old German, Mr Kroll, living alone at the Paine farm near Plum Creek, was found dead in a barn after apparently hanging himself with a rope tied to a beam. He had recently feared losing his mind and preferred death over returning to an asylum. He had moved from Lingis five or six years ago and left a life insurance policy of a thousand dollars payable to his son. Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church, and revival meetings at the M. I. church concluded with notable attendance and reported spiritual benefit.
