Balearic Islands Seek Autonomy In New Spanish Constitution

Prepared by National Geographic Society, the Balearic islands now under Spanish ownership seek greater autonomy under the new constitution. Majorca, Minorca, Iviza, and Formentera blend varied ancestries and climates, welcoming visitors with clean inns and vibrant harbors. Majorca and Mahon show mixed English and Spanish influences while Minorca resists certain footwear customs and emphasizes home and factory work for women. The region preserves prehistoric talayots, caves, and fortress remains, with Palma, the island’s capital, centered on a bustling horseshoe bay and a tourist heartland near Bellyer castle.

Banding ½ inch above seed yields higher stands of 62% in 1930 and 70% in 1931, while dividing 400 lb into two 2 by 8 inch bands 3 inches apart achieves 90% in 1930 and a perfect stand in 1931.
